Group Photograph of Cleaners at Leicester Central.
This photograph shows a group of cleaners probably based at the Leicester South sheds. The man on the far left is Tom Chamberlain, who went on to become a fireman for the LNER and eventually an engine driver. Tom was regulary in charge of the Flying Scotsman and received a commendation for diverting a potentially dangerous situation (see image records L3546 & L3547). The remainder of the men in the photograph are unknown - maybe you can identify one or more of them, maybe on of these men is your father or grandfather - let us know. The date of the photograph is unknown but is probably between 1925 and 1935. The reverse side of the photograph is a postcard. Presumably, the photograph was taken by an offical photographer of the railway.
