Construction of the Misbourne Viaduct'

This viaduct is in the final stages of construction. Of its five arches, four still have 'centring' in place: wooden scaffolding supporting the structure until cement dries. The brickwork inside the arches is arranged in a spiral formation for additional strength - this technique was relatively uncommon. On the far side of the viaduct is a contractor's carriage, presumably employed in the transport of materials and resources to, and removal of waste from the site.
It seems likely that the structure is the Misbourne Viaduct, which transported the Great Western and Great Central Joint Railway over the river Misbourne in Buckinghamshire. See on Route Map
