Metropolitan Railway's electric locomotive No. 1
Photographed around 1920, this is a fine view of the Metropolitan Railway's handsome 1906 electric locomotive No. 1. Weighing in at fifty tons and powered by four 200 hp motors, No. 1 was one of ten electric locos ordered from British Westinghouse in 1904. Note the illuminated roller-blind destination box, here showing Inner Circle.
