Metropolitan Railway Pullman car GALATEA
Photographed at Neasden depot in March 1934, this is the Metropolitan Railway's Pullman car GALATEA, seen here in crimson lake livery. Originally designed in the United States, these luxury appointed coaches gave passengers who were willing to pay a supplementary fare a chance to enjoy superior standards of comfort and refreshment. Note the oval stained glass side light on the right, and the Pullman crests at either end of the car's lower body.
