Girder bridge over the London & North Western Railway

Built by J.T. Firbank of London Bridge as part of Contract No.7, this is the plate girder bridge that carried the Great Central's Last Main Line over the London & North Western Railway at Loudoun Road, South Hampstead. Perched on the embankment beyond is a steam powered crane, seen here complete with a typical example of an improvised cab made from wood and corrugated metal. See on Route Map
