Contractors' 0-6-0 saddletank locomotive, '10' near Frome in Somerset.

This locomotive is believed to be Manning Wardle & Co. built 0-6-0 saddletank (Class 'L' - No. 1210) of 1890. It began life as number '30' in the Logan & Hemingway fleet, later to become number '10' which is the identity is carried when this photograph was taken in the summer of 1931. As number '30', the locomotive had worked on the construction of the London Extension in the vicinity of Nottingham Victoria Station. At the time of photography, number '10' was working on the construction of the Frome cut-off line. It was later sold to the Cranford Ironstone Company where it received the name SIR BERKELEY, and the locomotive still survives today.
