Rothley Station, Leicestershire

Waiting room and ticket office at Rothley Station, photographed around Easter 1975, almost six years after the closure of the Line. After the Main Line Steam Trust had decided to try and save an eight mile section of the Railway from Loughborough to Belgrave & Birstall, and during the negotiations and fund raising that followed, British Rail left this single line of track in situ from Loughborough to Rothley. One year after this picture was taken, the Great Central preserved line would begin in earnest. See on Route Map
